160,000 learners to benefit in MBHTE’s School-based Feeding Program

The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education participated in the Dissemination Forum: Viability of an Integrated Programme on Home-Grown School Feeding in BARMM.

As the lead implementer of school-based feeding program in BARMM, the Ministry has already invested in comprehensive health programs to deal with health issues and micronutrient deficiency of the learners in the Bangsamoro region.

“The MBHTE promotes healthy eating habits through our school-based feeding program (SBFP) to ensure our students consume food with the proper nutritional value; we need to guarantee that they are well-educated and in good health.” Iqbal stated

“To show our commitment to this priority area, the MBHTE allocated PHP 384,000,000.00 from the Block Grant duly approved by the Bangsamoro Parliament for a school-based feeding program for 160,000 learners of the 11 Divisions.” he added

The Ministry would also like to extend its gratitude to the BARMM government, Embassy of Finland in Manila, The Finnish Centre of Expertise in Education and Development, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for supporting the Integrated Programme on Home-Grown School Feeding in BARMM.
