MBHTE’s Commitment to Quality Education: Monitoring IPED-implementing schools in remote BARMM areas

With the unwavering commitment to elevating the quality of education in the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education, the Office of the Directorate General for Basic Education’s (DGBE) Bureau of Indigenous Peoples Education (BIPED) recently conducted a series of extensive monitoring visits to selected Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED)-implementing schools last October 9-10, 2023, in the far-flung areas of BARMM.

These visits played crucial roles in collecting valuable insights that will serve as the bedrock for the creation of comprehensive guidelines for IPED-implementing schools across the region.

Venturing through challenging terrains, the dedicated BIPED team embarked on a journey to evaluate Benuan Elementary School, Kitedted Primary School, and Timuay Tata Amuba Primary School of Maguindanao del Sur Division. These schools were chosen with a specific purpose in mind, as they play significant roles in the implementation of IPED programs within their respective communities.

During the intensive two-day visits, the primary objective was to tackle existing challenges, pinpoint areas for enhancement, and offer unwavering support to ensure that IPED schools align with the highest educational standards.

These monitoring visits mark a pivotal step towards realizing a vision of inclusive and quality education for all members of the community in the region. The gathered data and observations will be the building blocks for formulating guidelines tailored to the unique needs of IPED-implementing schools.

The Ministry is fully committed to adopting a holistic approach in this endeavor. It ensures that diverse perspectives are considered, setting the stage for an equitable and effective education system catering to the indigenous communities of BARMM.

The successful implementation of these guidelines is poised to bridge the education gap and empower indigenous students in BARMM, unlocking their academic, cultural, and social potential.
