In celebration of IP (Indigenous Peoples) Month, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education through its Bureau of Indigenous Peoples Education and the Schools Division of Maguindanao del Norte, in collaboration with school heads, IP elders, and the entire community, recently conducted a comprehensive monitoring program for IPED implementing schools.
Conducted last October 11-13 2023, the monitoring visits aimed at assessing the educational progress and cultural preservation efforts of Sëfëgëfën Elementary School, Kabugkabug Elementary School, Kiga Elementary School, and Gamëk Elementary School.
Aligned with the theme “Pagpapayaman ng pamanang kultural at katutubong yaman tungo sa mas maliwanag na kinabukasan para sa bagong Pilipinas”, the monitoring program seeks to emphasize the importance of recognizing and preserving the rich cultural traditions and indigenous values of the IP communities within Maguindanao del Norte.
This initiative, supported by the Pathways to Peace in Mindanao, provides an opportunity to evaluate the educational facilities, curriculum implementation, teaching methodologies, and support systems in place for IPED students.
The Ministry, led by Minister Mohagher Iqbal acknowledges and prioritizes the pivotal role of Indigenous peoples’ education in the Bangsamoro region. This commitment reflects the ministry’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and culturally enriched educational landscape in the region.
