The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) granted Notre Dame University (NDU) an extended Autonomous Status effective until July 31, 2025.
This was during the university’s celebration of its Jubilee (75th Founding) Anniversary held Friday, February 17, at NDU field.
MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal believed that the NDU has set the bar of standard for the higher education institution to follow. Occupying a part of history in Central Mindanao, NDU has produced many professionals who have been exemplary of excellence.
“I congratulate NDU led by its President Fr. Francis Efren Zabala for keeping the tradition of success in this university since its creation. Being in existence for 75 years and maintaining a standard of education is not an easy feat,” said Iqbal.
Underscoring that NDU is, without a doubt, one of the premier educational institutions in the region, Iqbal said “I am sure many of our public schools can learn from you on school management especially in the area of Education Coordination as we in the MBHTE is focusing our learners transition from elementary up to college levels in one indivisible education continuum – an integrated system of education as provided in the Bangsamoro Organic Law and in the BARMM Education Code.”
The extension was in consonance with CHED Memorandum No. 07, series of 2023 “Extension of Validity Period of Autonomous and Deregulated Status Granted to Private Higher Education Institutions” and pursuant to CHED Memorandum No. 46, series of 2012 “Policy-Standard to Enhance Quality Assurance in Philippine Higher Education through an Outcomes-based and Typology Based QA”.
“I am proud that the NDU and the MBHTE share similar visions about quality education in the Bangsamoro region,” Iqbal emphasized.
“Educators in all sectors have crucial roles in shaping the future of the Bangsamoro, and we hope that the NDU family will remain a critical partner of the MBHTE in implementing significant reforms in the Bangsamoro education system through Moral Governance,” he added.
