The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) launched today, May 23, in Cotabato City, its official website and two (2) new education services designed to reach and include all learners in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The MBHTE website is an online platform for communicating relevant information to the public, designed to increase transparency, promote moral governance, and reflect the Bangsamoro identity.
Said website contains collective information since the establishment of BARMM last 2019.
Meanwhile, the Bangsamoro Education Management Information System (BEMIS) is an Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-enabled system that maintains a database of BARMM education data and provides a platform for everyone’s access.
BEMIS supports the Ministry’s policy analysis, monitoring and evaluation, program management, and decision-making processes. More importantly, it promotes transparency and accountability for all sectors and levels of the Bangsamoro education system.
During the activity, the Pathways program turned over tablets to the members of the BEMIS Technical Working Group.
On the other hand, a model of learning center and hub for inclusive education services where all learners can access relevant and responsive education will also be established. Called as the Inclusive and Supportive Center for Learning (ISCL), this model is at Timanan Central Elementary School, in South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur.
“The three projects we launched earlier, generously supported by the Australian Government through the Pathways program, significantly contribute to our vision of a quality, complete, balanced, and inclusive education system in the BARMM,” said Minister Mohagher Iqbal.
“I thank everyone for joining us in this significant event. My heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed guests from the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA). I also recognize and commend my colleagues from the Bangsamoro Parliament and the MBHTE family, especially the leading proponents of the three projects we launched,” he concluded.
Graced today’s event were TESDA Deputy Director General Vidal D. Villanueva, III, Pathways Team Leader Caroline Vandenabeele, and Member of the Parliament (MP) and BARMM Committee on Education Chairperson Eddie Alih and MP Engr. Aida Silongan, also Minister of Science and Technology. DepEd Planning Service Director IV Roger Masapol also showed his support in the video message he sent.
