Today, January 31, the Australian Government in partnership with Philippines Business for Social Progress turned over the first of the seven Skills Development Center at Camp Badre, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
During his speech, MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal pointed out that this center is one way for the communities in the camps that is part of the Camps Transformation Program where former combatants and their families will be given skills training that they can use for their livelihood and in turn make them into productive members of the society. He also thanked the Australian Government for their continued support to the education in the Bangsamoro Region.
The Camp’s transformation aims to streamline former combatants back to society. The qualifications that will soon be offered in center are Electrical Installation and PV Installation.
One of the guests of the event is the Education Pathways to Peace in Mindanao Program, another Australia supported initiative.
